i've searched here and the wiki and i'm having a hard time finding any hard numbers on weapon stats. i come from a deep rooted old-school D&D background so i'm probably over complicating this...
is a weapon's price related to its damage?
do 2handed weapons deal more damage?
do bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing weapons have significance here?
(i.e.: skeleton=bludgeon)
thanks |

Weapons are more effective very specifically based on what you're righting. For instance, bows are horrid against skeletons, and flaming swords are more effective against bracken, and frost axes are stronger against fire creatures, and etc.
Two handed weapons generally deal more damage than one handed weapons because you can't also use a shield with them. Bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing doesn't really have an affect on damage. AndÖ Hmm, weapon price is generally based on weapon effectiveness. I'll leave the specifics to the fighters out there. |

I've found that some weapons are definitely better at fighting some creatures than others. Here's what I like to use:
Flail: my favorite "all purpose" weapon, although I generally don't see other fighters using one. I find it works well on some of the weaker beasts, like ants, harpies, skeletons, AEs, and the like, many of the beasts I find around Mirith.
Warhammer of Power: another "all purpose" weapon, but w/ a bit more punch that the flail.
Glaive: I've found this works well on hell hounds, gooeys, zombies, and sludge beasts (yet not as good on the beasts I listed under the flail).
Glaive of Power: another favorite of mine, works well on lots of things, but I try to keep from using it too often, only because it's not as easy to come across as the WHoP and the weapons I can make. Also, since it's two-handed, I can't use LDS/GDS w/ it.
Club of Power: I've seen a number of fighters using this one, but I've yet to see huge differences. (Any CoP fans out there have any thoughts?)
Battle Axe: not a fan. It's slow and unwieldy.
Katana: it's fast, but I've found it lacks in the power. I've seen other fighters who use one, but I feel it's a bit too weak for me.
Scimitar: does ANYONE use this weapon??
I don't think that higher priced weapons are necessarily more powerful, but I could be wrong.
I'd love to hear what other fighters think, as I, too have wondered about this! |

The only reason I used CoPs are because when I was poor I didn't want to waste a WHoP.
Also, I had a formula that some other fighters use to keep track of leveling.
A certain amount of CoPs broken meant your were X amount closer to your next level. That is obviously no longer the case with changes in the leveling system, but I suppose the use of CoPs has carried over since the update.
However, I also like to think of the CoP as the poor new players WHoP.
I'm not sure if that has changed or not. |

| I think CoPs are more plentiful than WHoPs, maybe that's it. I've only ever gotten WHoPs from the quest, whereas I've found CoPs in the woods a number of times. |

I second Hania's opinion, CoPs are found all the time, and I don't like wasting them. I use practically any weapon (except battle axe), including scimitars! I may be the exception though, because I tend to love really horrid weapons. This is mainly because if I use a decent weapon, it'll be dead before anyone else gets a chance to do much damage in a normal romp in the woods. That is, if Laricen doesn't kill it first. |

| Scimitars are good for that yes Lenne. The weapon I take on a hunt can also vary depending on the overall party dynamics. |

Not up to date but still not bad to work with. There is nothing newer considering weapons and armor I believe.
Everyone is using GM katana or GM long sword and a GM club though. |

| I remember when i first started and was given a GM WHoP. Unfortunately i was much more silly back the and threw it out when it was +9. After finding out what i had done i hated myself for a long time. |

a-ha! that's exactly what i've been jonesing for!
feels like Diablo now.
thanks davonsemris.
now i know what items i should keep an eye out for. i'm thinking...
-Poison Battle Axe for defensive fighting
-Speed Glaive for when i have cleric support
btw, kudos to Jinker for having the wisdom to put axes in the bludgeoning catagory where they belong. always bothers me when other games catagorize axes as slashing weapons and/or somehow related to swords. even my beloved Dungeons & Dragons is guilty |

I've seen those tables before and tried using some of the weapons that had "better" stats...but was confused when things didn't work out the way I expected them to.
Since then I've stuck w/ plain old trial and error w/ weapons. I have my preferences, I know what works for best for me, and I'm sure you'll figure all that out too, Stryde. Good luck slashing and bludgeoning across the lands of Oberin! |

| Those tables look so wrongÖ Katanas are not faster than daggers, nor do battle axes do significantly more damage than most other weapons. Also, you have to take into account whether the GM version of a weapon is readily available, because GM weapons are much better than their normal counterparts. |

| Just stick to using a Katana or Flail for now. Once you are able to make GM Katana's use that weapon or the GM War Hammer if you want a stronger weapon. Don't worry about power weapons until you are ready to face some of the stronger creatures like Dragons, Hill Giants, etc. Should you come across any speed weapons, save them until you have reached at least level 8. |

Of course when you get to Crom's level you will no longer have any need for conventional weapons. There is another way |
