Excuse me, but I'm not sure about one thing: how to join a guild. Could someone spare the time to tell me how, so that I'm prepared when I want to join one?

The Guild you wish to join will let you know what is expected from you. Most have there own web page where you can submit your application. Some Guilds are not as easy to get into as others. Hunting with members of that guild will help show them what kind of player you are and how well you get along with the rest of the members on hunts. There are also times when some Guilds will ask or invite a certain player to join them.

It's also best to ID people (command+D) that you hunt with, that way you know what guilds members you are playing with and then you can find out who you gel with the best.
