I would think that in addition to hiring out-of-work, retired level 10 fighters for 50k gold (which if you think about it is crazy cheap)...

It would be nice to have other guards...

Like having a pair of Lava Spiders as Guards...

Or Tuskers as Guards...

Or Lions...

Have their AI be the same as normal guards (chase and kill the first thing they see red on a human as long as it isnt a human itself). Have them equally unkillable (or instantly resurrectable as the case may be). But let them be something other than level 10 Fighters.

I would think a Druid with Taming 10 could easily convince a pet Lava Spider that its new job was to guard the guild hall and kill anything that attacked nearby humans. Maybe have options based on how you qualify for the guards, that if it's only with Fighters and Rangers, you get the standard fighter guards. But if your guild has high level druids you can also get 3 Lions to hang around and Roar a lot...

I think some towns would utilize different guards as well. I could see Lerilin with a few extra Hell Hound guards. Heck, let Marali be guarded by hired Gapers. Wink
