Lag has affected the game for me and quite a few other players I have spoken with for a few days now (and at different times of the day) - is there a known problem?
Thanks |

| Same here. It seems to come and go and is very, very bad at times. It's been like for me for the past 3-4 days. I figured it was a bad storm in the faraway land of Atlanta pushing ill winds in the direction of Oberin. |

Saturday was not playable.
Sunday little better but I still did not dare to adventure and I even called off Ice dungeon trip. ><
Since friday - 4 deaths on freezes, no pet loss.
When the lag was worst on saturday, I tested World of Warcraft - US server (old subscription still going on, else I really ended with it). The game lag was normal. So it's not my connection and it's not problem on line between Europe and USA. |

This is a problem I was going to Post on a month ago, under "Off-Topic."
I rate Difficulty in Oberin by two factors: first, monsters, and second, lag.
I was going to say that we should just accept it, or possibly come-to-a consensus, standing at the bank, or even off, already-fighting, on whether it's too-laggy to proceed; in a slow, laggy, "democratic" way (albeit one where not-everyone is always-participating in the conversation, i.e., possibly unrepresentative).
Instead, I'll just do, I've decided, as in all other Networked Games, since about 1996:
I'll do more than just say "Lag," LAG, laggg, laaaagggg!!, ALLLGLGLALGLAG, or even lag;
I'll simply say: "mild lag," "medium lag," or "high lag," conditions, like a weather /surf report.
It can't get to me if I serve-it-back, with a description. |

Sad truth is - if the game did not have lag, it would be too easy.
Maybe you could oppose me but you know in your heart the lag beast does us good in larger picture. ^^ |

| Yes Davon, If the lag was completely removed then the creature speed would have to be increased otherwise, it would be too easy I think. |

The topic was changed to Naming the Lag so I got a bit excited when I saw this.
Therefore, I am naming the lag.
I suggest we call it Fluffy.
Or maybe Eduardo? |

| I find really amusing how the very high level players who have spent years getting that level can so easily comment how easy the game is. Perhaps think back a little to when you were new. Not so easy now. Get off your high horses and go camp in Hell if the game is too easy. The lag makes it almost impossible for me to venture anywhere as I die every time. |

You will find most of the older players had to level up in lag much worse than this which lasted months at a time, even with frequent server drops while being chased by anything, even sheep, then logging on finding yourself dead.
They may mention it being easy because this lag is nothing to what it used to be. |

The lag used to be much much worse until the server was moved from Glen to Jinker. Not to mention months of server down after the hurricane...
The game is easy. If you do not like the word, let's use other one - it's simple. It's not a matter of class level. And it doesn't mean the game is bad. If you truly wish me to elaborate on this, I can. But it will be long and boring.
And if you did not understand my second post in this thread, it was meant mainly as humor and I assure you, I'm not enjoying dying on freezes any more than you do.
______
Anyway let's hope last weekend lag will not repeat this one. I would really like to do some dragon harvesting. |

As someone who started playing Obie in 2007, yes, I have seen lag come and go and have definitely seen it much worse. I wasn't saying it makes the game harder, easier, better or stupid. I was simply agreeing with someone who had stated the fact that lag has been more obvious lately than it has been in recent weeks. Keeping it in perspective with the voice of the original post.
Am I leaving Obie because of it or because of anything else I don't happen to like about it? Nope.
