It is that time of year--March Madness.
{NOTICE: Deadline to join tournament is March 15, before the start of the first game.}
For those of you not from the United States or who do not follow college basketball, March Madness is a tournament among the top 64 college basketball teams. There are 6 rounds of the tournament, with the winners of each round progressing to the next round, until two teams are left standing. Those two teams play for the championship.
As part of the festivities, fans and non-fans alike attempt to pick the winners of the tournament games. The person who finishes with the most points (correctly picked games + bonus points) wins the fan tournament.
I will create a Yahoo! Pick-em (pick the winners) tournament for Oberin. The cost is free. You do not need to know anything about college basketball to play (it often doesn't help anyway to know anything). All you need to do is complete a bracket (your selection of picks). To aid you in this, all of the teams will be ranked so that you know which teams are rated higher than others.
----
Prize: The winner will receive 100k gold pieces.

PLEASE READ: If you have concerns about privacy, I suggest creating a bogus yahoo account for the game, something like xyzOBERIN@yahoo.com. Then, do not put any personal information in that account. It is nice to have a junk account anyway when you have concerns about privacy.
Once on the tournament web site, press the {JOIN GROUP} button to enter tournament and create a bracket (your set of picks).
Group Name: Foehan Underground Tournament (Oberin)
No password required.
Rules:
1. You can only enter one bracket (set of picks). No creating a separate bracket for each of your alts. One person, one entry.
2. You must make ALL of your picks prior the first game being played (early March 15, EDT in the United States). You must make picks for every round, not just the first.
3. Your Bracket Name needs to indicate clearly the name of one of your Oberin characters. For example, my bracket will be called 'Sumac of 13'.
---
Scoring: Each correct pick earns you points. The first round (Round of 64) earns you 1 point for a correct pick. The second round (Round of 32) earns you 2 points for a correct pick. And, so on. If you correctly pick a lower ranked team to beat a higher ranked team, then you earn a bonus points. (IMPORTANT: Bonus points system changed from last year. This year, when you correctly guess an upset, the difference between the team rankings equals the number of bonus points you earn. For example, if you correctly picked a team ranked 10 to beat a team ranked 7, then you earn 3 bonus points (10-7=3). Team rankings will be provided for you.)
Round of 64: 1 point for correct pick (upset bonus points: 1 x difference between team ranking)
Round of 32: 2 point for correct pick (upset bonus points: 1 x difference between team ranking)
Reg. Semis: 3 point for correct pick (upset bonus points: 1 x difference between team ranking)
Reg. Finals: 4 point for correct pick (upset bonus points: 1 x difference between team ranking)
Semifinals: 5 point for correct pick (upset bonus points: 1 x difference between team ranking)
Championship: 6 point for correct pick ((upset bonus points: 1 x difference between team ranking)
---
Note: You have option of keeping your e-mail address hidden (which I suggest doing), and to deny the commissioner (me - person who set up the tournament) from sending you e-mail. |

The Tournament Link is set. You do not need to know squat about college basketball to play. Join the madness!
Please read original post for the rules. If you have any questions, send me a PM. I won't be around in game, so do not look for me there.

IMPORTANT:You have until the start of the first game on March 15th to complete your brackets. Time is short! |

I was going to join, more out of solidarity with a player's initiative than because I know about... what was it? basketball?
But then I saw the header ìDeath to the King and his lame regime.î Is this tournament meant to be IC in any way? I would have to chose a very different character, if so... |

No Cassandra, it's not IC at all and it's totally fun. I know nothing about basketball, and still had a blast last year.
Made my picks - thanks for setting this up again Sumac!!! |
